What's the point of blogging?

Why do you blog?

Too many artists seem to completely miss the whole point of blogging.

Blogging is your chance to enrich my life, improve my day, and show me that you care about me. If you can do that, then you are a real artist, and the world will notice.

Use this opportunity to become a better, more engaging artist, and to make a REAL connection with your customers.

Why blog?

For some strange reason to me, other people think artists are different from them.  They like to understand why the artist paints, what's in his head, what her motive is.  I don't really get this, but then I think about how it works when I meet someone.  I'm exactly the same way:  who are you, where are you from, what's your experience in life and work and interests?  And so on....so it make sense that a potential customer or just plain old fan of art wants to know about you.  Where did you come up with that idea?  What's with the color scheme?  How did you do that?  That to me is what a blog should be about, not just throwing up your latest with dimensions and a price tag!  Get personal, don't overdo the personal, but lure that person in!
